From fear
to freedom.
For years, emetophobia felt enormous. It was not simply a dislike of being sick. It was the anticipation, the scanning, the avoidance and the exhausting feeling that I needed to stay one step ahead of something I could never completely control.
My way forward was not one magical moment. It was learning about fear, changing the relationship I had with my thoughts, building trust in myself, gently stretching my comfort zone and discovering practices that helped me stay with my body instead of constantly trying to escape it.
That journey eventually became part of Fia-Rós. I wanted there to be a space for people with emetophobia that felt human: somewhere you did not have to explain why this fear can feel so consuming, and somewhere the whole of you could be met - mind, body and heart.
I remember the version of me who thought fear would always get the final say. She is why this work matters so much to me.
